She's Got This

Alexa is a girl who can clearly handle her own.

Last week when we were at my parents, we went to the The Children's Museum in Greenville.  It was a pretty cool children's museum (although honestly I haven't found one I don't like).  So Alexa and I were hanging in the area that was designed with the 5 and under crowd in mind.  She was playing in this area where they had these little cubby holes that you could slide a door back and forth and look at pictures of farm animals.  She was really engrossed in this area.  She sat here in this one spot and slid the door back and forth several times.  Suddenly this little brute of a girl (ok not really- she was actually a regular girl about 2 years old or so) shoved my sweet, helpless, little baby out of the way so SHE could look at the pictures!  I debated on how to react, and decided I wanted to see what Alexa would do.  She kind of cried/ whined, looked at me, realized I was waiting to see what she was gonna do.  Then she put on her big girl pants, went to the mattresses, and shoved that brute out of the way- who sort of scampered off.  Then Alexa looked back over her shoulder at the girl as if to say, "Try me again hussy."  Needless to say, Alexa had free reign of the cubby holes.

Yesterday evening, we were sitting in the living room and Alexa found one of Andrew's toys that HE WAS NOT PLAYING with.  (that's an important fact- he was not playing with it).  She brought it to me and I showed her that when you pushed on it, it would jump up.  She LOVED it.  I must have made it jump 20 times.  While we're doing this, Andrew suddenly realizes this is FAVORITE toys and he desperately wants to play with it.  So he snatches it away.  Alexa yells at him, but doesn't really do much about it.  Yet.  So Andrew moves off with the toy.  Alexa bides her time.  Andrew's not paying us any attention and out of no where, she clocks him on the head with a matchbox car.  He exclaims- "She hit me!  She hit me!"  Well, then he gets distracted and starts playing with another toy.  Alexa quietly leans over and snatches the jumping toy back.

Yep.  She's got this.

Besides, who would want to mess with this spaghetti mess?!

  1. Love her! I always find it amazing how children can sense when their "favorite" toy is being played with by someone else.
