Alexa and I Have a Favorite Store

You should know, if you don't by know, I am a weird person and I am cheap, sort of. I hate to spend money, except I will spend a bizarre amount of money on socks and hair products.  I mean- it's not really a bizarre amount- or maybe it is. I don't know.  The thing is- for someone who thinks $20 for a shirt is too much money- but thinks $15 for a pair of my favorite socks- is perfectly ok, is a bit mixed up.  I don't like to spend $20 on a shirt, but will gladly spend $30 on good conditioner.  WTH? Really?  Yes.  I'm a woman.  I make no sense.  It's my prerogative.  I am quirky.  What can I say?

Alexa and I love to go to a store: Ulta.  I remember bringing her to Ulta for the first time when she was two years old.  Her hair was just starting to grow and I decided she needed good shampoo.  No department store shampoo was good enough for her hair.  For whatever reason, that particular day she also carried a pocketbook with her.  Many women stopped to make over my cute toddler that day. While I thought she was pretty cute myself, I also knew her- and knew that at any moment that darling two year old could become a writhing, screaming, Terrible Two Year Old in an instant. Yet . . . that moment never came.  She walked carefully along each aisle, looking at the products.  Picking up some, putting them back.  We looked at sparkly hair things, nail polish, and make up.  She was a joy.  Every time we go- she's a joy.  She just likes to walk around and look at all of the lovely products.

Yesterday, we were at my in-laws, when I decided to jet over to Ulta for a quick trip.  Alexa decided to join me.  The whole way, Alexa was on the verge of falling asleep.  She was quite pitiful.  Days of Christmas excitement, and playing hard with her cousin were starting to take their toll on my girl. She was exhausted.  When we had parked, and I had opened the car door, she "had" to be carried.  No one can do pitiful and exhausted, quite like a four year old girl.  However- literally upon entering the store, Alexa caught her second wind.  She walked the entire store, looking at all of the sparkly, pretty things.  She's happy just to look- for now.  Although, I bought several things- and promised to share my shampoo and conditioner with her, which she was fine with- for now.

This one store, makes me appreciate Alexa so much.  It's so fun to have a girl to enjoy this stuff with me, but to bring a different level of appreciation to it.  If I hadn't been with Alexa yesterday, I would have just jet into the store, bought my stuff, and jet out.  I wouldn't have taken the time to wonder, to look, to discuss, to touch, and to smell.  I'm glad to brought her with me, not only because I got what I wanted, but I also got what I needed- time to smell the roses.
