Lullabye's?

We were in the car this evening, and Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" came on the radio.  I suddenly got all nostalgic. Not for college.  But you would think, wouldn't you?  No.  I got nostalgic for when Andrew was just a little baby and I would sing him lullabye's before he went to bed.

I was really selfish about putting Andrew to bed.  I never wanted Doug to do it because it was one of my favorite times of the day with Andrew.  No matter how the day had gone, putting him to bed was lovely.  I'd read him a story, turn off the light, and sit and rock with him until he fell asleep.  And I'd sing him lullabye's.  One of the "lullabye's" was "Cheeseburger in Paradise."

For real.

My grandmother used to sing me lullabye's.  They were real ones.  Traditional ones like "Rock a bye baby . . . "

Andrew got sung "Cheeseburger in Paradise."  I'd also sing him other quality songs like, Barry Manilow's "Copacabana."  I went through a Grateful Dead period with him too.  Nothing says go to sleep like songs about running from the law, doing cocaine, and eating cheeseburgers.  Jeez Andrew has a weird mother. I wonder if he knows it yet?
