Warning! Intended Audience: Grandmothers (but you can look at them too!)

We went to the park for an hour or so this afternoon with a friend of Andrew's.  The boys had a great time playing and Lu-Lu had a great time watching all the action.  And boy, was there a LOT of action!  The park was PACKED!  So we played for awhile and then attempted to feed the very aggressive geese, but . . . well you see how the boys reacted to that.

right before the geese began chasing us and Lu-Lu decided she needed to be up- and away from those geese!
Only a mother knows, but at the beginning of this, when she's "peeking" around the pole- she's saying, "Heh-whoa!"  ("hello" in Lu-Lu talk)

I am a terrible gift giver.  I hate the present part of birthdays and Christmas.  The stress to buy the perfect gift is too much- especially since I HATE to shop.  Yes.  I hate to shop.  The only stores I go to are Target and Harris Teeter (grocery store- for my out of state friends).  Truly.  Don't worry I do some damage to the old bank account by just going to those stores.  I find shopping overwhelming with all the choices there are.  If I find something I like at one store- I second guess myself and think I'll find it somewhere cheaper.  Where that somewhere might be- I don't know as I don't like to shop and quite honestly I am too lazy to go searching for something that I could find somewhere cheaper.  So then I find I haven't made a decision.  By the time I say- I'll just go get what I found at the first store- it's gone.  Or the other thing that happens to me at my children's birthdays is I imagine a product o...

I Speak The Language

I am sure you know, but in case you’ve forgotten, I am a Special Needs teacher.   For 11 years I taught special needs students in the “regular” classroom, and for the last 3 years I have taught in a self contained classroom.   My students have varieties of disabilities, but the most prevalent disability is Autism.   I am proud to say- I now speak the language of an autistic child.   It’s a recent acquisition, but it’s so handy! Before I write anymore, I want to preface this by saying I am NOT mocking or making fun of my students in anyway (I’m actually admitting some pretty uncool personality flaws of my own).   Do I tease them?   Heck yeah!   One of our favorite things to tease about is, slamming our hands down on a desk to make anyone or everyone in the room jump. The Blues

I don't know about y'all, but I've been feeling a little blue the last couple of weeks.  Initially, I assumed it was due to the 11 inches of rain that fell at my house since Memorial Day.  Except, it's stopped raining and I'm still feeling a little . . . out of sorts.  Then I thought- it's probably because I am dehydrated and haven't been exercising.  But I'm guzzling water and taking the puppy on 2 walks a day.  Yesterday, I walked, drank water, AND I had time alone to listen to whatever music I wanted, and worked uninterrupted by any of my family on weeding my garden for over an hour.  Usually all of those things totally reset me.  Today I find I'm still just . . . something.  Something's not right.  My mom called, so we could be catty about Ina Garten announcing on Instagram that she's gonna take the week off from cooking and work in her garden.  Hah.
